4 sorting and packing stations

The association has three stations for sorting and packing potatoes for export, and they are one of the accredited stations for exporting packed potatoes to the European market, namely:

  • Damanhur StationAttached to the association’s refrigerator in Damanhur
  • Kafr El-Zayat Station Attached to the association’s refrigerator in Kafr El-Zayat
  • Kafr Pauline Station Attached to the association’s refrigerator in Kafr Pauline

The association was exporting potato crops especially to the United Kingdom market. In 1982, the exported amount reached about 10 thousand tons. Since 1996, the export activity has stopped because the export was limited to the output of lands free of brown mold disease, whose rent price has significantly increased making the export cost high thus its results are not positive. No lands were allocated for the association despite the repeated request to obtain any part of them. At the present time, the association contributes in the exportation through renting the stations of sorting and packing to some private sector exporters and through exporting the outputs to the Arab and European markets, since the stations as we mentioned are accredited. The exported quantities reached, in some years, 10 thousand tons of potatoes as well as the amount of onions.
